Plain language about what we collect and why. Last updated August 18, 2026.
Who we are
The Bit Laboratory is an independent digital product and software studio. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions about anything below can go to info@thebitlaboratory.com.
Information you give us
When you submit our contact form or email us directly, we receive the details you choose to share. That typically includes your name, email address, company, and a description of the project you have in mind, along with any budget or timeline you select.
We use this information only to respond to your enquiry, to evaluate whether we are a good fit for the work, and to keep a record of our correspondence.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you view. This information helps keep the site secure and tells us, in aggregate, which pages are useful.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of third parties to operate the studio: website hosting, email, and standard business software. These providers process information on our behalf and only to the extent needed to deliver their service. We choose providers that offer appropriate security and confidentiality commitments.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as it remains commercially relevant, and longer where a contract, tax obligation, or legal requirement calls for it. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or archive it securely.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also ask us to stop contacting you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection law.
To make a request, email info@thebitlaboratory.com and we will respond within thirty days.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections to this website and access controls on our internal systems. No online service can promise absolute security, so please avoid sending confidential material through the contact form. We will arrange a secure channel when a project calls for one.
Children
This website is intended for business audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of sixteen.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted here rather than applied quietly.
